Dan's Supermarket is carrying Bessie's Best whole milk by the gallon jug, straight from Sterling, ND. I'm not typically a whole milk gal, but after talking to the earnest guy giving out samples by the dairy case and seeing "no synthetic hormones" on the label, I picked up a gallon.
And if Bessie is reading, I'm waiting for the lowfat moo juice, honey.
Totally our family favorite...want to know the secret to making whole milk into lowfat? Add water, seriously. How economical is that!
ReplyDeleteI have been making my own yogurt using Bessy's Best. It is just terrific!
ReplyDeleteThey're selling yogurt now, too! It comes in a quart jug and it tastes amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou can also find the milk and yogurt at Cash Wise
ReplyDeleteWe buy only Bessie's Best, but it just occurred to me that I don't know if it has Vitamin-D added. Does anyone know?
ReplyDeleteHow does Besssie's Best milk compare to raw mlk from grass fed cows, like from Bartlettfarm.us that delivers to Bismarck from Bottineau, ND. Feed cows organic minerals and grains and hay?
ReplyDeleteA good milk info site is http://realmilk.com
Thanks for the comment, Bartlett. Certainly it can't compare to raw milk. I had raw milk frequently while in Europe and it's a completely different experience. I've heard there is a crew in Bismarck that does shares from the Bartlett Farm in Bottineau and they are nothing but complimentary about it. We just haven't quite taken the plunge (or gotten organized enough yet) to partake as well.
